Your Wedding Story Told Through the Eyes of a Photojournalist

Hey there! When you look at wedding photography, are you drawn to a documentary feel? Do you appreciate storytelling just as much as beautiful photos? Great! Me too! We might be a great match!

My style is deeply rooted in the world of photojournalism and documentary photography because I am a working photojournalist. I have shot for newspapers, culture magazines, social media campaigns, and editorials.

My photography has appeared in publications and exhibits around the world. I've documented some cool stuff in some pretty wild places— from water buffalo dairy farmers in Laos and the colorful temples of Nepal, to protests in Seoul and night markets in Taiwan.

While I still freelance, I have been all-in on wedding photography for nearly a decade.

My background gives me the ability to tell a cohesive story through photography and to be quick on my feet. While no two weddings are the same, there is something that they have in common. Every wedding is a huge narrative created by overlapping stories—it’s all about you and your first kisses and first dances but it’s also about how you got there and who helped to bring you along the way.

When you look through your wedding photos years down the line I want you to get lost in that narrative all over again. That's why I am here.

About Me

One of the things about your wedding day that most people don't realize is that you spend a crazy amount of time with your photographer—sometimes more than with anybody else. Nuts, huh? This is why it's important to pick a photographer that meshes well with your personality.

I’m nothing if not calm. I understand that weddings can get hectic and I am always there with advice for you if you ask for it. I pride myself in being a part of the wedding team. I also pride myself on my baseline level of sarcasm and self-deprecating humor. A lot of wedding professionals have their personality dials cranked to 11. I am a solid 6.5.

There are plenty of great photographers who’ll step in during your ceremony or override your planner to get the "perfect" shot. I’m not one of them.

As far as what makes me tick, I'm a travel nut. Most of what I do revolves around travel. Like a lot of people, I got hooked on the idea of meaningful travel through the books and TV shows brought our way by Anthony Bourdain. The first time I got myself on an airplane and out of the country was right after college. I spent a few weeks as a volunteer planting trees in a freezing village in the mountains of Greece. A dog ate my boot liner on the second day and I spent the entire time with cold wet feet. I was hooked.

In 2011 I landed a job teaching English in South Korea. I planned on staying in Korea for a year but life is funny and I came back six years later ... married.

Travel has been a huge commonality for my wife, SiEun, and I. We have traveled all over Asia together—from Japan to India and a lot of places between. We try to travel as much as we can now that we have found a home in Worcester. We have young daughter named Eejin.

When I am not traveling I like to ride my bicycle incredibly slowly, eat disturbing amounts of Korean food, watch horror movies, and listen to a lot of ska. Admitting it is the first step, right?

Packages

Your wedding is hugely important, whether it’s large or small, traditional or quirky. It represents your love as a couple but also the love and support of your family and friends. Photography is one of the most important investments that you will make towards your wedding because it is the closest you can get to a tangible memory.

The packages below represent the most common coverage that I am asked about. If your wedding doesn’t fit any of these that’s OK! I would be more than happy to give you a custom quote.

Complimentary Engagement Session

I like having a rapport with my couples and I like my couples to be comfortable around me.
There is a lot going on in a wedding and I find that if we have spent some time together beforehand it makes a MASSIVE difference for everyone! Occasionally I shoot a wedding without an engagement session and it adds a little bit of anxiety to everyone just because not only are we at your wedding but we are also really meeting for the first time.

An engagement session is a win on all fronts because you will come away with some great images for your save-the-dates, you will get a sense of how I work, and most importantly we will share some laughs as we get to know each other.

All packages come with:
• A complimentary engagement session
• Travel within New England
• A beautiful digital gallery with unlimited downloads and printing rights
• Lifetime storage
• Access to a high-quality print shop from within your gallery

• Open communication and timeline advice throughout the entire process

Package ONE
1 photographer – $2500
2 photographers – $3000
Up to 4 hours of coverage

Package TWO (Most Popular)
1 photographer – $3600
2 photographers – $4200
Up to 6 hours of coverage (great for most weddings)

Package THREE
1 photographer – $4800
2 photographers – $5600
Up to 8 hours of coverage (great for large weddings with multiple locations)

Second Photographer?

Your love story is the most important part of your wedding but there are a lot of other stories unfolding at the same time. While I wish I could, I cannot be in two places at once.

Having a second photographer at your wedding allows me to document your wedding in a more comprehensive and creative way.

  • Groom prep while I’m with the bride

  • More of the bride during the first look

  • Creative angles during the ceremony

  • Cocktail hour while I photograph group portraits

  • More details, more angles, more creativity, more story

Elopement Package

If you are getting married at city hall, at a park or home with fewer than 30 people then you should still hire a professional photographer to tell your story. Don’t put your cousin-with-a-camera in the tough spot of trying to be fully present and also photograph a wedding for the first time. Elopements do not come with an engagement session but you can add one at an extra cost. Here is what I offer for those eloping or going for micro-weddings:

$1500 for up to two hours of photography
• Travel within Massachusetts
• A beautiful digital gallery with unlimited downloads and printing rights
• Lifetime storage
• Access to a high-quality print shop from within your gallery

Prints

Whether you decide on an elopement session or a multi-day wedding package, you will be getting a digital gallery full of hi-res images that are ready for you to share and print anywhere. With digital cameras and digital delivery, so many people receive their images and let them sit in their hard drives. Seriously, you don’t need to print through me—but please, print your photos!

If you decide to, though, you are free to take advantage of the print shop built into your gallery. With a few clicks you can purchase archival quality print and canvas products made with the best ink, paper, and canvas available. I also design and print custom wedding albums.

I’m Interested! What Now?

If you made it this far, you like my style, and the idea of spending time with me doesn't horrify you then I would love to have a chat with you. This can be over the phone, zoom or a cup of coffee or a glass beer—I am a sucker for Greater Good Brewery in Worcester.
I am horrible at up-selling and there is absolutely no pressure to make a decision or sign anything that day so don’t worry about getting ambushed with a contract.

During this conversation I would absolutely love to answer any questions you might have—whether they are about what I offer or about your wedding day. If you decide that I am the right photographer for you then the booking process is simple. To hold your date I require only a signed contract and a nonrefundable retainer of $500 which is subtracted from your total. The rest is due at any point before I roll into your wedding.

Let’s connect. I’d love to hear what you're planning.
