II. Session Types
In-Studio Headshot
The gold-standard of headshot sessions and probably what you are imagining. A short session in my cozy studio that lasts somewhere between 15 - 45 minutes. Your choice of backdrop color (white, gray, black). Great for LinkedIn, websites, real estate marketing, models, and actors.
On-Location Headshot
These sessions take one of two forms. The first is that I bring my mobile studio to your home or office and set up the same professional lighting and paper backdrop that you would get at my studio. With about 15 minutes of set-up time you can expect the same great final product as a studio session. The alternative is that we incorporate your surroundings and create an environmental headshot. Great for business owners, medical professionals, busy professionals, and remote workers.
Branding Session
Branding sessions are a bit more collaborative than a traditional headshot session. The purpose of a branding session is to tell a bit more about who you are, what you do through photography. These sessions often include headshots and environmental portraiture, detail shots, and editorial-styled photography that gives potential clients and customers an idea about who you are. These sessions also provide content for future use on websites, blogs, social media, etc.. Great for business owners, clinics, lawyers, and just about anybody with a website.
Team Headshots
These sessions take place on-location and utilize either my mobile studio with paper backdrop or an open background for an environmental look that incorporates your setting. Great for business owners, medical professionals, busy professionals, and remote workers.

IV. Frequently Asked Questions
How do I book a headshot session?
Simple! Just click here or email me with your basic availability and anything you think I need to know about your headshot session. Email: tomgodfreyphoto@gmail.com. Call or Text: (508)215-8808. Once we nail down the details I will send you a simple contract and link to pay your non-refundable retainer ($50). That’s it. The remainder is due on the day of your headshot.
Where is your studio located?
51 Union St. Worcester. You can park anywhere out front. Give me call or send me a message when you arrive and I will let you in.
How long does a headshot session take?
This varies a lot depending on your needs but there is no rush on my end. A simple headshot for LinkedIn or your company’s site might take 15 minutes if you only have one outfit. A more in-depth session for a modeling portfolio might take 30 - 60 mins. A personal branding session might take 1 - 2 hours or longer. A headshot session for a large team might see everyone sitting for a 3-5 minute mini-session.
What should I wear to my headshot session?
Wear something that reflects your profession and personal brand. Solid colors work best. Avoid busy patterns or anything distracting unless this is the specific image that you are going for. Every headshot session includes two outfits - you should take advantage of this.
Do you offer hair and makeup?
Yes, at an additional cost. I work with a few local hair and make-up artists. If this is something you are interested in let me know.
What if I am not photogenic?
One of the reasons why I like headshots is because there is no pretense about them: they are unnatural as heck. I think that in embracing this and keeping things extremely light, we are able to create a session that is comfortable but also produces images that feature genuine, pain-free expressions. I specialize in people who feel less-than-comfortable in front of the camera.
How many photos will I receive?
You will receive enough photos to choose from a variety of poses without it becoming redundant or overwhelming. I do not limit the number of photos that I send in your proofing gallery. The initial images will all have basic edits (exposure, contrast, temp, etc) but will not be touched-up. This comes later.
How do I choose my photos?
The proofing gallery is designed to look nice and to be simple. Once you see your edited images, simply click the HEART button on the images that you THINK you might use. Those images will be touched up and delivered in the same gallery, where you can download the number of images included in your session with the option to purchase more.
What kind of retouching is included?
Retouching is super subjective. My goal is for you to look your best without looking airbrushed. Retouching includes some light skin softening, teeth whitening, softening of shadows, bags, and wrinkles and removal of temporary blemishes. If you need something specific or want to see a heavier hand then just let me know.
How long does it take to receive my headshots?
Your final images will be ready within a week. Are you in a rush? I can usually accommodate this.
Can you match my company’s brand style?
In most cases, yes - just send me a link to what you need. I am also happy to make notes of my lighting set-up / settings for future reference.
Can you do my headshot at my house?
Definitely. A lot of the photos that you have seen here or on my site were done in people’s living rooms or kitchens. I don’t need a ton of space- I have yet to enter a house or apartment that could not accommodate my mobile studio and I have been in a lot of them. If you are worried about lighting, don’t. I come with my own lights.
Are team headshots the same as individual headshots?
Basically. The reality of team headshots is that most companies or organizations just don’t have the time for everyone to sit around and wait as team members get a full headshot experience. Most team headshots focus on a few tried and true poses or really stick specifically to your needs. Team members can expect their mini headshot sessions to last anywhere from 3-5 minutes if time and efficiency is a priority.
How do team members pick their images?
The proofing gallery works the same way for teams as it does for individuals. You may choose whether each team member receives their own gallery, or if everyone is working off of one large gallery with separate folders.
V. Preparing for your session
Choosing your outfit
Solid colors work best; avoid busy patterns and logos.
Choose mid-tones or darker colors over bright white or neon.
Wear clothes that fit well and feel comfortable.
Bring 1–2 backup options if possible.
Simple necklines photograph best.
Avoid noisy jewelry; keep accessories minimal.
Makeup
Keep makeup natural and true to your everyday professional appearance.
Matte makeup works better than shiny or glossy products, which can reflect studio lighting.
Avoid heavy contouring—subtle definition photographs better.
Bring your makeup with you for quick touch-ups during the session.
Lip balm or light lipstick helps prevent dry or pale lips on camera.
Even if you don’t usually wear makeup, a small amount can help even out skin tone.
Hair
Style your hair the way you normally would for work or professional settings.
Avoid trying a brand-new hairstyle right before your session.
Bring a brush or comb for quick adjustments.
Hairspray can help A LOT with flyaways.
If you get a haircut, do it about 5–7 days before the session so it looks natural.
Skin and grooming
Moisturize your face the morning of the session to reduce dryness.
Avoid heavy sunscreen right before the session, as it can create shine.
Shave or trim facial hair the way you normally would for your professional life.
Check and trim nose, ear, and eyebrow hair if needed.
Get a good night’s sleep the night before.
Glasses
Bring your glasses if you wear them regularly.
Clean them before the session.
If possible, bring frames without transition lenses.
During the session
Take a few deep breaths—we’ll keep things relaxed and straightforward.
Let me know if you have any music or radio station preferences!
Small things that make a big difference
Drink water the day before and day of your session.
Avoid alcohol the night before.
Avoid tight clothing right before your session that leaves marks on your skin.
What your session will actually feel like
I think it is important to address the elephant in the room when it comes to headshots: they tend to stress people out because they usually don’t feel natural. You can expect a professional session that utilizes conversation and mood as importantly as it uses lighting and posing. Everything will be prepared for your session before you arrive. Once you stand get in front of the camera the conversation will be flowing and you will find yourself thinking about the lens less and less which translates to looser smiles and a bit more authenticity. The most consistent thing that I hear after a session is that it was a breeze and felt a hell of a lot better than they were expecting.

“I’m generally uncomfortable with posing for formal photos, so I was anticipating the session as something to get through. Instead, it was fun, creative, and immensely enjoyable – thanks to Tom’s consummate professionalism, obvious talent, and willingness to suggest different ideas to create photos that conveyed the tone I was looking for.”

“Great photographer! He creates a relaxed atmosphere and knows how to capture amazing shots, highly recommend!”
